Blueberries

blueberries-clusterBlueberries are seductively sweet and juicy and better eaten at room temperature. Take them from your refrigerator and wash them in room-temperature water before eating. Fully ripe blueberries have a delicate, sweet, mild flavor, and juicy firmness. To provide you with quality berries, we grow them in the heirloom tradition in manually tended soil with grass fertilization.
Blueberries provide unique health benefits. They are one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant value. The phyto-chemical compounds in blueberries help rid your body of harmful oxygen-derived free radicals, thus protecting you from cancer, aging, degenerative diseases, and infections. Traditionally, blueberries are a part of Native American food culture. You may find more information in the REFERENCES section.
We have several varieties of blueberries; the season is extended from mid-July to mid-August, and is subject to changes in weather.
A delicious taste, a pleasant aroma, and the greatest overall antioxidant benefits are associated with the full ripeness of the berries, which occurs within a few days of them turning blue.
People who tend to eat at least three servings (three cups) of blueberries per week see the most health benefits.
